Georgia O'Keefe

As a follow up project to soap making, 3rd and 4th graders studied American artist Georgia O'Keefe. They looked at nature through a microscope. They created acrylic paintings based on an enlarged nature images of a flower, shell, skull, leaf, butterfly wing, etc.

Making SOAP... It is good clean FUN!

3rd and 4th graders in Equinox House participated in an integrated project using math, science, and art skills. School gardener Mr. Andrew, enrichment teacher Ms. Milks, Art teacher Mrs. Baker, and TA Ms. Amanda have teamed to combine their specialties in this fun and unique project. Working in groups, students learned to make soap and created their own unique formula. They used a natural base (olive oil, shea butter, etc), garden herbs, and organic essential oils and learned what each herb and oil smells like and what benefits they have on the skin.
