SPARK Studio Art - Rotation 1
I am constantly getting asked, "WHAT DO YOU DO IN SPARK?". Here is a 3.5 minute video that gives you an idea of what we did in Studio Art. Each Studio Art is different because the students get a say in the direction of the class. Enjoy a sneak peek at 5 weeks of after school fun.

Recycled Books become hedge hogs
What can you do with a book that is about to be recycled? Well... third and fourth graders are making hedge hogs by folding these discarded treasures. It is so much fun that we are thinking of trying turkeys next. Stay tuned to see what we can create!

Monet monoprints
Claude Monet was the artist that inspired us. We read a story and learned many facts. In the Impressionistic style, we created our own water lily monoprints. Enjoy the video to see our process and come and check out our arrays (nice math tie in!) in the corridors.

PASTEL LANDSCAPES
This week in ART third and fourth graders created pastel landscapes.
The vocabulary word we learned was "SPACE".
Space means creating the illusion of depth in a piece of art! :)
Congratulations SPARK artists!!

Stuffed animals, Stories, and FUN!
The Haas n' Baker Student Story Time Symposium!
Friday, June 14th from 8 - 9 a.m.
Friday, June 14th from 8 - 9 a.m.
Please join us for a collaborative event between MC Baker's Art Room
and the Haas Classroom showcasing the skills learned in Art using math,
patterns and imagination to design stuffed animals/creatures and hand
stitching them to bring them to life!
In the classroom we read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo as our Read Aloud book. The students then wrote and illustrated stories about the journey of their very own stuffed animal that they created with Ms. Baker. Their enthusiasm was also inspired by Katie Boutin, Ben's sister, who asked if my class would illustrate the children's book she wrote for her Senior Grad Challenge from CVU. They enjoyed doing that so much they wanted to do one themselves. Katie's book will be on display Friday morning as well! (ssshhh...the author may be able to make an appearance!)
The students have also been learning many different types of Poetry and have written and illustrated "wonder - full" Poetry Books!!! Yes indeed, we have been busy bees!!!
