Chittenden South Elementary and Middle Schools are participating in a fundraising even at CVU. Students form these schools used a water drop shape as inspiration for their work. Ceramic plates and other artwork will be available for a donation, which will go to flood relief. This project allows students to make a positive contribution to the world by helping those who have been impacted by Hurricane Irene.

Painting with Crayons and Blow Dryers
"Shake Rattle and Roll... Moving and Grooving at WCS"
This year for Theme Week I teamed up with Cris Milks to shake things up! We offered students the chance to rattle their imaginations by rolling out canvas and crayons. Blow dryers melted the wax and students used a variety of media to create a piece of truly unique art.

Clay Cupcakes!?!
Inspired by Ashley and Callahan's love of cupcakes, third and fourth graders
created cupcakes out of clay! They look good enough to eat! The top is actually a frosting inspired rattle that fits on top of a clay "cake" bowl. We will be celebrating by having a pastry chef come in and show us some artistic ways of decorating real cupcakes!
Happy New Year!
Chinese New Year was January 23, 2012. It is the most important of all the traditional Chinese holidays. It is also called the Spring Festival. It is the 1st day of the Chinese Lunar calendar. This year, it is the year of the DRAGON! Inspired by dragons and the New Year, students created "Something out of Nothing". It is one of my favorite Art Room games. Students were given a doodle and used their imagination to turn "nothing" into a dragon. Students used water colors and oil pastels to create a unified composition.
